If your child suffers from asthma this is a good time for his/her annual check up. The change in season and activities exacerbate asthma that had been otherwise stable over the summer months. Read more…

Is your child getting old enough to manage their own inhalers or need a review to make sure they have the correct technique? Are the suitable for MART therapy? Is vaping becoming an issue for your teenager? Is your child using two or more puffs of their reliever inhaler each week? Do they use a peak flow meter?

Our Practice nurse or GP would be happy to assess your child’s current status, asthma education and medication dosage – all of which need to change with time as they grow. Children between 2 and 8 with a diagnosis of asthma are advised to be enrolled on HSE Asthma Management Programme delivered for free in General Practice.

For adults with Medical or Doctor visit cards; you can enrol in the Chronic Disease Management Programme to avail of free 6 monthly asthma check ups.

Don’t forget those with asthma are advised to have winter vaccination for Flu and Covid (children with severe asthma). Children’s Flu vaccines are given by nasal spray age 2-17. We will be involved with providing this service again in Autumn 2026 through GP led vaccination clinics in our local schools.
